In the pharmacy

Your pharmacist is an excellent source of information and can discuss your symptoms with you, help you decide which remedy to take and tell you when you need to get more help, for example, from your doctor.

Some medicines can cause side effects which feel like indigestion, so if you have taken any other medicine, including alternative or complementary medicines, remember to tell your pharmacist.

Before you buy or take an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine:

  • ask your pharmacist whether the medicine is suitable for your symptoms;
  • let your pharmacist know if you have a medical condition or are taking other medicines; and
  • always read the label carefully.
