To help avoid colds and flu you should take plenty of exercise, make sure you get a good night's sleep and eat a balanced diet with lots of fruit. Vitamin C, Cod liver oil and zinc supplements can help defend your body against infection.

To help speed up recovery you should rest, keep warm, drink plenty of fluids, eat what you can to keep your strength up and try breathing in steam from hot, not boiling, water. (Remember to keep hot water out of children's reach).
